Our Team

We are an experienced and dynamic team, with extensive commercial experience coupled with broad-ranging scientific expertise, encompassing pharmacy and formulation science, pharmacology, physical sciences and bioengineering.

Our management team combines over 80 years’ experience in life science and our business model is built on strong financial and business administration skills.

Board of Directors

Howard Stevens – Chairman

Professor Howard Stevens is a founder of Bio-Images and has served as Chairman of the Board since our incorporation. He is a registered pharmacist whose career spans four decades of management of industrial research and development in the UK and Europe in large multinationals and small drug delivery companies.  He has been involved in the formation of several successful spin-out businesses and served as the Pfizer Professor of Drug Delivery at the University of Strathclyde from 1998-2009.  He has an extensive scientific and patent publication record, is a fellow of the RPSGB, RSC and APSGB and served as Chairman of the APSGB in 2001.

Lee Ann Hodges – Chief Operating Officer

Dr Lee Ann Hodges oversees the management and operations of Bio-Images. She has a degree in Pharmacy and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Strathclyde and has been actively involved in the formulation, development and testing of novel oral dosage forms for the past 10 years. She is a member of the AAPS, APSGB and the Institute of Clinical Research. Since joining Bio-Images in 2005, her role has progressed through pharmaceutical, clinical and business development operations and currently has overall operational responsibility in her role as COO.


Ian Stillie – Director, Corporate Strategy

A graduate of both the Universities of Strathclyde and the Witwatersrand (South Africa), Ian is a qualified mining engineer and recognised serial entrepreneur, who operates at senior board level positions. He has been integral to many successful high growth start-ups, acquisitions and company disposals, as well as advising in several major disposals in turnaround situations. He has strong financial, operational, sales and marketing skills and an extensive network of contacts in all areas of business, politics, sport and public sector communities. He is a Fellow of both The Royal Society of the Arts and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Sarah Connolly – Director, Regulatory Affairs

Dr Sarah Connolly is a registered pharmacist and has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Strathclyde. With extensive experience in pharmaceutical manufacture and quality management, Dr Connolly has responsibility for GMP/GCP activities, as well as maintaining contact with ethics and regulatory authorities.
